1. Introduction

We value your privacy and process your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

2. Data We Collect

When you use NumiCare, we may collect:

• Account information such as your email address and encrypted password, needed to create and maintain your account.

• Child information such as birthdate, expected due date, and gender, used to personalise sleep and development guidance.

• Usage data such as sleep logs and AI chat interactions, used to generate tailored insights.

• Technical data such as device type and an anonymised IP address, used to keep the app secure and prevent misuse.

3. Purpose and Legal Basis

We process your data to provide and improve the app, fix errors, and respond to your requests. The legal basis is Article 6 (1)(b) GDPR (contract performance) and Article 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

If you choose to receive optional communication such as a newsletter, we rely on your consent under Article 6 (1)(a) GDPR.

4. AI Data Processing

Our AI assistant uses OpenAI's API to generate responses. Your messages are sent securely to OpenAI's servers to create the reply and are not used by OpenAI to train its models. We only transmit pseudonymised content, without personal identifiers. Data transfers are protected under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

5. Data Storage

All personal and usage data are stored on Supabase servers located in the European Union (currently Ireland and Frankfurt). Supabase acts as our data processor under a GDPR-compliant Data Processing Agreement.

6. Data Retention

We keep your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service:

• Account data are stored until you delete your account.

• Sleep and baby data remain until you remove them or close your account.

• Security and error logs are deleted after about 30 days.

When an account is deleted, all associated data are permanently removed from our active systems and backups within 90 days.

7. Data Sharing

We share information only with:

• Supabase (for database hosting and authentication)

• OpenAI (for generating AI responses)

• Sentry (for error tracking and performance monitoring)

• RevenueCat (for subscription management and billing)

These providers act strictly on our behalf under GDPR Article 28 agreements. We never sell, rent, or trade personal data.

8. Website Analytics

Our website uses Umami for anonymous usage statistics. Umami is a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual users across sites. All data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you.

9. International Transfers

If data are processed outside the EU (e.g., by OpenAI in the USA), we ensure adequate protection using the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses as required by Article 46 GDPR.

10. Your Rights

You can at any time:

• Request access to your data (Article 15)

• Request correction or deletion (Articles 16–17)

• Restrict or object to processing (Articles 18–21)

• Receive your data in portable format (Article 20)

• Withdraw consent for future processing (Article 7 (3))

If you believe your rights are violated, you may lodge a complaint with the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BlnBDI).

11. Security

We use modern security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, and limited staff access to ensure your data are protected.

12. Children's Data

The app is designed for parents or guardians. Data about children are provided voluntarily by the parent or guardian, who remains legally responsible for that information.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements or legal requirements. The current version is always available within the app or on our website.
